MAES expands strategic cooperation with ESSO

MAES Energy & Mobility (MAES) is investing again in its collaboration with ExxonMobil (ESSO) and will in the course of this year rebrand 51 Octa + stations and add them to the ESSO network.

This brings the counter to 126 ESSO stations that will be operated by MAES in Belgium, almost doubling its current ESSO network. With this, MAES strengthens its strong position in Flanders and takes the first steps on Walloon and Brussels territory.

MAES AND EXXONMOBIL, A STRONG PARTNERSHIP

In 2013, MAES and ESSO joined forces for the first time with the acquisition of more than 30 ESSO gas stations in Flanders. ExxonMobil opted for a new strategic business model in the Benelux six years ago and sold its ESSO network to independent brand distributors (Branded Wholesalers), including MAES, with the aim of further optimizing the management of the network.

THANKS TO MAES ESSO CONTINUES TO GROW

Last year, MAES announced the acquisition of 156 Octa + gas stations, which more than doubled the network for MAES.

51 of these Octa + stations, a mix between service and Express stations, clearly offer strategic added value for ESSO and will be added to the network during the course of the year.

This new investment from MAES once again confirms the excellent alliance between MAES and ESSO and is the result of the hard work to be able to continue to grow together strategically in the longer term.

“This agreement is the result of a strong partnership to keep our ESSO brand attractive and competitive, so that we as ESSO, together with our Branded Wholesalers, continue to play an important role in the Belgian retail market in the long term and thereby strengthen our positions. Says Eric De Vreese, BNL Retail Sales Manager at ExxonMobil.

Thanks to this collaboration, both parties can offer customers an even larger network, provide direct access to high-quality SynergyTM fuels and thanks to the new digital ESSO Extras savings program with which customers can now also save points on (un) manned stations via an app, even more reward customers for their loyalty to the ESSO brand.

The Octa + conversions will start in June and the change to ESSO will be fully completed at the beginning of 2020.
