About ExxonMobil’s use of corporate entities in the Bahamas

We have affiliates incorporated around the world. Some entities are registered in the Bahamas for simplicity and predictability of the country’s laws governing incorporation. It is not done to reduce tax in the country where the company operates. Incorporation of a company in the Bahamas does not decrease ExxonMobil’s tax liability in the country, for example Belgium or the Netherlands, where the entity generates its income.

ExxonMobil is one of the largest taxpayers in the world. Over the past three years ExxonMobil’s effective tax rate averaged the fourth highest average effective tax rate in the Fortune 100. ExxonMobil strictly follows all applicable regulations and laws and is current on all tax returns and payments.
