Dutch driver Max Verstappen meets staff at Exxonmobil Refinery in Rotterdam

Aston Martin Red Bull Racing Driver Max Verstappen returned to his homeland on Friday to meet employees at the state-of-the-art ExxonMobil refinery and Pernis lubricants plant in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

Fresh from his victory at the Austrian Grand Prix last weekend, the six-time Grand Prix winner met his fellow Dutch men and women who work at the plants where both Esso Synergy fuel and Mobil 1 engine oil are produced for the road.

ExxonMobil, a Technology Partner of Aston Martin Red Bull Racing, helps power Max and his teammate, Pierre Gasly, on track with cutting edge technology and innovative race fuel and lubricants.

During his exclusive tour, Max visited the heart of the refinery, the Control Room, as well as a new 1-billion-dollar Hydrocracker plant. This facility uses high-end technology to produce ultra-low sulphur diesel, as well as base ingredients for high-quality lubricants used for heavy duty engines and windmills. After the tour, staff members and their families had a special meet & greet with Max, while David Croft hosted an interactive Q&A session where Max spoke about pushing the limits to be the very best.

After his visit, Max said: “I would like to thank ExxonMobil for taking me behind the scenes and showing me the oil and lubricant production process. It is a fascinating facility, filled with technology and run by enthusiastic and motivated people. It was great to be back at home in Holland, especially after my win in Austria last weekend. I had a lot of fun chatting to everyone about their work. I would also like to thank ExxonMobil for helping us and Honda gain engine performance and reliability, which really showed in the incredibly high temperatures at the Austrian Grand Prix.”
